Hi, my name is Josiah Berger, and I'm a 16 year old bodybuilder from Ames. Would I qualify for the Men's Open category? I am interested in competing up due to my physique development.
Ryan Irwin
January 5th, 2016 14:19
Great question Josiah. Yea, the Open category is open to anyone, whether they are 16 or 61. There also is a teen class for bodybuilding. Let us know if you have any other questions, thanks for the interest!

I am new to this and I am looking at May 14,2016 being my first bikini competition. I'm going to need a tan , makeup, and hair done for the show. Will there be anyone I need to get a hold of to set this up?

I placed first in my weight class in 2013 in an IFBB show in Denver. Is it ok to compete in this show after a 1st place showing in the past (from the IFBB)? I have been drug free for life, and I'm tired of competing against "1/2 year naturals" in Colorado. If I can compete, what events specifically can I be a part of?
Ryan Irwin
February 4th, 2016 18:56
Good question Jon. Once a competitor has competed in a professional competition, whether IFPA or another federation, they are no longer eligible to compete as an amateur in the NANBF.
Jon Burright
February 9th, 2016 11:47
Actually, it was just an NPC "natural" division in the Mile High Showdown (2013 and 2014). I did NOT compete in the professional divisions of the show. Does a 1st place showing in this show (in my weight class) knock me out of the NANBF?
Ryan Irwin
February 9th, 2016 17:13
Ahh, that makes sense. You would be able to compete in the NANBF as the NPC is an amateur organization.

We live in state but a ways from Des Moines. Is there any part of the process that happens the night before or can this show be done with out a hotel stay if we prefer to come in Saturday morning?
Ryan Irwin
March 15th, 2016 10:52
Good question Laurie! All competitors must check in on Friday evening betwen 6:30PM and 8 PM.

Ryan Irwin

Yes, there is information sent out immediately after registration with regards to the contest. Additionally, there will be more information as contest date approaches sent to competitors.

Hello; is there a Pro Class or is this just a pro-qualifier?
Ryan Irwin
March 22nd, 2016 12:10
This is a pro-qualifier.

If you win your class at this show, do you become pro or are you granted an opportunity to become pro?
Ryan Irwin
April 6th, 2016 17:46
Good question. If you win your class in the Central Midwest Open, you then will go on to be in the overall competition with the other class winners. The winner of this is who would win their pro card.
